About Delani

Qualified counsellor, ACA Level 2 member, and someone who genuinely cares about your wellbeing.

Meet Your Counsellor

A supportive space to find your way forward

I’m Delani Fonseka, an ACA Accredited Level 2 Counsellor and the founder of AtoZ Counselling in Canberra.

I believe that everyone deserves a safe, respectful space where they can talk openly, feel heard and explore life’s challenges without fear of judgement. You don’t need to be in crisis to seek support, and you don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out.

My approach to counselling

My approach is person-centered, trauma-informed and strengths-based. I work collaboratively with you, at your own pace, to understand what’s happening in your life and explore practical ways forward.

Drawing on approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), I tailor our sessions to your individual needs, goals and circumstances.

I aim to create a warm and inclusive environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself.

My experience and qualifications

I hold a Master of Counselling from the University of Canberra, and alcohol and other drugs (AOD)

Through my work in the mental health sector and my counselling placement experience, I have supported people experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, low mood, trauma, grief, social isolation and challenging life circumstances.

My background in mental health and AOD also informs my understanding of the different experiences that can affect a person’s wellbeing.

How I can support you

I work with adolescents aged 12 and over and adults who may be experiencing anxiety, stress, grief and loss, difficult life experiences, relationship challenges or significant life changes.

I offer face-to-face counselling in Lyneham, Canberra, and online counselling across Australia.

Taking the first step

You don’t need to know exactly what to say or where to begin.

You can start with a free 15-minute connection call to meet me, ask questions and see whether counselling with me feels right for you. There’s no pressure to commit.

I look forward to supporting you on your journey.

How We Work Together

Online or face-to-face, flexible, and private

Sessions are available for adolescents (12 years and older) and adults, either via secure online video call or face-to-face at Level 1, Suite 8, 196 Mouat Street, Lyneham 2602. Online sessions run on Saturdays. On Wednesdays, you can choose either online or face-to-face.

There’s no pressure, no judgement, and no one-size-fits-all approach. We go at your pace, working on what matters most to you.

A Little About Me

The person behind the practice

I bring a warm, person-centred approach to my work, and genuinely care about each person feeling heard, understood, and supported to make the changes that matter to them.

Outside of sessions, I enjoy creative pursuits like art and craft, and find that music is a great way to unwind and reflect.

I also love catching up with friends and finding new places to eat. Good food and good company are hard to beat.
